Here's 51GP...

http://www.warbirdregistry.org/p51regis ... 74483.html

I remember seeing it recently sold on Provenance Fighter Sales, most likely to this Dream Machines deal.

I hope it doesn't go back to stock. I don't think any more Mustangs should be cut up and made into racers, but Dago has more history as a racer than a stocker, so I hope she is left as is.

No chance he will take her back to stock.

Stay calm.

That is N51GP which is registered to Sonoma Valley Aircraft Sales and not N151GP which is the Mustang L. Thompson refers to in the original post and which is registered to Dream Machines.

The Provenance page calls the serial 44-73691. The interwebz forums have reported the serial as 44-63791.

Which is it?

So, the only reference on the internet I can find about 44-73691 is on an RCAF serial number database:

http://www.ody.ca/~bwalker/RCAF_9251_9300_detailed.html

RCAF 9284

Quote:
first date: 23 January 1951 - Received second hand from US.

Ex USAF P-51D-25-NA serial number 44-73691. Used at RCAF Stations Uplands, Trenton, and Winnipeg.

last date: 16 June 1954 - Struck off after Category A crash.

Joe Baugher's site says the same thing:

Quote:
73691 to RCAF as 9284. W/o Jun 16, 1954

http://home.att.net/~jbaugher/1944_5.html

On the other hand, here's what the net says about 44-63791:

Quote:
with a P-51 Mustang that Page and his team recently recovered from the Dominican Republic. Acquired in 2003, P-51D Mustang 44-63791 will be rebuilt to flying condition as a 352nd Fighter Group "Blue Noser" carrying the nose art "Three of Hearts."

Anyone?
