Rare Sherman tank buried (and recovered) in New York

Tue Aug 12, 2008 3:11 pm

The strong follow up to the "abandoned trains" (turned "abandoned machines") thread lead me to stumble on to another cool story about a rare Sherman tank that was found buried on the grounds of a New York mental hostpital and then recovered by the American Armoured Foundation in the late 1970s.

Nothing military, but I like the theme of the time-capsule.

A brand new Plymouth Belvedere, deliberatly buried as a time-capsule in 1957 and dug up in 2007.
