So we're on our way to the IPMS USA Natonals in Viriginia Beach, and managed to squeeze in a quick stop at the NMUSAF. I specifically wanted to see the newly-restored Kawanishi N1K2 Shiden-Kai. They've done a beautiful job! I was also experimenting with using my mono-pod to get overhead shots.

Enjoy!

Steve

Excellent :!: Thanks for sharing. That cockpit sure looks complete, how much of it was there when they started and how much did they have to fab?

Well, here are a couple of pic I took of the cockpit ten or fifteen years ago before she was stripped down and restored. Looks like it was pretty complete, but rather worn. The plane was taken off display for restoration in the mid 90s. I was told they originally just planned to do a repaint and general "spruce up," but once they got into her they found a lot more corrosion than they expected, so they decided to do a ground-up restoration.
