We've not been very fortunate with the weather this year at Old Warden, seven shows in a row with precious little sunshine. However, the standard of flying has made sure that despite the weather the air displays have been well worth attending.

Here are a few photos from Sunday afternoon:

Two very lucky members of the audience got a taxy ride in the dH88 Comet "Grosvenor House" (Winner of the 1934 MacRobertson Air Race) for a very reasonable donation of £100 to the Shuttleworth Collection.

Hans-Ekkehard Bob ("Bobbin' Bob") flew in to the show in an Me108 - he's pictured here in a FW44 Stieglitz

I've loaded some higher resolution versions of the photos on my Flickr Account

Thanks Robbo, excellent pictures!

Who is "Bobbin' Bob"? Is he ex-Luftwaffe?

Wow, sounds like a neat guy! "World's oldest active pilot", according to Wikipedia!

He has got to be a rarity. I don't know of any other currently flying ex-W.W.II Luftwaffe pilots, do you?

Thanks for the info! :)

He's still got all his marbles and a quick wit.

Great to see Bob still going strong. Its also great to see that many german WW II trainers together. I hope a photo flight was put together with all of them!

On the other side, Ken Wallis (born 1916) is still an active pilot of his own autogyros, and I'd bet is the only pilot active today with combat time in Vickers Wellingtons. I almost literally bumped into him at another recent Old Warden show, and he's looking nothing over 60, IMHO.
