I've seen that IL78 come in and out of the airport here. (IAH) I remember seeing it for the first time coming in...way cool!

Someone want to explain what this judgement is that they owe 4 million for? I've not heard anything about it.

BTW, I doubt it'll ever get FAA certification, so if you want to fly it for revenue, I'd suggest going to Mexico. :)

Let's see here; 52 tons of lightbulbs on the way down, and what should we bring back!!? lol

I was going to say 52 tons of as many immigrants needing to get to Mexico so they can actually make some money going down and 52 tons of 100LL for Midland coming back since fuel there is cheaper now. :)

If you go to the bottom of that page you will see a link to a story about Glacier Girl stopping at Texhoma for fuel. Their reporting is kind of funny but I applaud them for even covering it and posting video.

Les

An interesting addition to the Air Show circuit, and given that Russian transports go between civil and military applications, probably a true War Bird. Saw an il-76 @ Abottsford a few years ago in AEROFLOT markings but still sporting what appeared to be an armed tail position. During the off season it can haul lightbulbs South and pre popped popcorn North just like one of the contracts from years ago that ALASKA AIRLINES signed using it's now departed L-382 the Big Nugget. Maybe they can get the local CAP Squadron to keep an eye on it!

IL-78 our a huge cargo force in Afghanistan still. they are daily operators still. Interesting thing, is they dont have a cargo ramp to drive vehicles in with, they have a crane and rail system inside to lift the vehicle up aft of the cargo floor, then they hook the cables and lift and slide crane forward unilt the vehicle is where they want it to be, or cargo pallets for that matter.
