Just got home from OSH and was checking the thread!
Great time, great weather, great friends! Ran into so many I can't remember all!
Glenn, Rhonda, Alec, Vlado, Mike VBC, Mark T, Dan K, just to name a few!

Mike and all the guys at Mid West Aero...CONGRATULATIONS!!!
An awesome restoration and one of the few I've had a chance to see throughout it's rebuild! Thank you for that!

One thing I haven't seen yet discussed in this thread... has anyone mentioned the 16mm film they shot with "Happy Jack's Go Buggy"'s restored original WWII gun camera last week?
Blew me away when Mike hauled me over to his laptop and played it!

Color footage shot from HJGB's gun camera of Vlado being "in" HJGB's gun sight! I tell you, the lead looked good and I think "Moonbeam McSwine" might have taken a few lethal hits if there was real bullets firing with the camera! It was rigged to shoot just like the original when the trigger was pulled. How's that for a restoration!!!

Sorry I missed the WIX picnic! We were working the Gary Sinise "Lt. Dan Band" concert for DAV! It was awesome and Gary is a terrific guy. I almost didn't make the concert as I contracted food poisoning and was in really bad shape for most of Friday! I don't wish that on anyone!
I'll post some pics when I get a chance but I gotta get to bed!

Spooky, thanks so much for your hard work in uploading these photos every night despite your lack of time. You have single-handedly made this thread! Some questions for you:

Is that a chick in that cockpit or is it a hippie? Who would that be? I only know two female pilots who currently fly Mustangs - Connie Bowlin and Patty Wagstaff. Seeing as how Patty is now blonde, I would put my bet on that being Connie. Am I correct?

I absolutely love those night time shots you do. How did you take those? Did you put the camera down on a mini-tripod on the ground for those time exposure shots? How long was the exposure setting for?

It's Connie. I was on the opposite side of the fence when they taxied by in those photos.

I was just thinking the same thing when viewing the latest installment. Gorgeous large pics that "put you there", so to speak.



Speaking of great pics, good on John T. for noticing - and shooting - this piece of documented authentic - that's the difference - history that can't be duped at Wally World.

As it has been confirmed that is Connie in Old Crow.

As for the night shots i'm a simple man with simple equipment. It's all done with a mini tripod and my Canon PowerShot. The longest exposure I can get out of it is 15 seconds which limits me a bit but I make do with what i've got. I'm hoping in my airshow offseason to save up for a nice DSLR.

The B-52 passes were sweet, especially the second one.

Spooky the cat, Al, Those are great photos of Oshkosh Aircraft. They are as good and most are superior to those taken by the so called professionals. You have an eye for a good photo. You took photos of Aircraft that were not part of the OSH click and not only on" Aeroshell Square" Thanks for making me feel like I was there in person. Phillip

Shame, shame...

Dad and I went with Neils in his C-45... we could have made it with the L-5 but the final coat of OD came out too glossy... not original looking so I decided to do it over and wait until next years OSH... bummer, but I want it perfect. It'll be at Midland Airsho, Wings Over Houston (hopefully), Hondo, Sun-N-Fun and OSH 09.

That T-33 belongs to Bob Davis and is based in Nashua NH part of the year and likely St Augustine FL in winter. It's one of the four jets I ferried out of Canada last summer. Jerry "Jive" Kerby (former QF-4 demo pilot) was flying it--he flies Fowler Cary's T-Bird in air shows as well and is currently giving Bob Davis his checkout.

Thanks for the info., Paul. I saw your T-33 at T.O.M. last year and I saw Chris in the Red Knight T-33 at Winston-Salem in 2005. I was fortunate enought to catch "Jive" flying Fowler Cary's "Thunderbird" T-33 in May 2007 at Andrews in formation with Dale Snodgrass in the "Skyblazers" F-86 shortly before it was retired.

Looking forward to see the "Red Knight" again at Winston-Salem next month, and hopefully some day I will finally catch Bob Davis's T-33 and some others including yours in a multi-ship T-33 formation.

Thanks for keeping a great jet warbird in the air for us to enjoy.
