The Collings Foundation's "Wings of Freedom Tour" of the B-17G Flying Fortress, B-24J Liberator, B-25J Mitchell and newly added TP-51C Mustang will be making a stop in Valparaiso, IN on July 21-23 at the Porter County Municipal Airport Terminal Building. Tours and Rides will be available as always.
Walkthrough Tours: $12 Adults/ $6 Children 12 and under. WWII Veterans are Free
July 21 - 2PM to 5PM
July 22 - 10AM to 5PM
July 23 - 10AM to 12PM
Flight Experiences: $425 B-17 or B-24 and $325/ $400 B-25. P-51 flights are $2,200 for 30 minutes and $3,200 for 1 hour.

Local EAA Chapter 104 will have food and beverages available to patrons. Items available will include donuts, sandwiches, snacks, coffee and cold beverages.

Vlado, if you have flown the Stewart 51, how about a pirep? It is a nice looking machine, especially that one. I can say the Thunder Mustang was a very high performance plane, about the same as a real Mustang. Of course you had to build it and it was complex and expensive, but it looked pretty good and handled well. It approached a little fast, what it needed, rather than trying so hard to be as fast as a Mustang, was a couple of feet more wingspan to lower the stall speed and landing speed.

I'll be at the Valparaiso stop but not the West Chicago.
A number of media organizations have agreed to cover the event. Hopefully we have a decent crowd, the County Fair is only a mile down the road and will likely draw-in some visitors.

as of right now...7/16, the 25 is still in Anoka for an engine change...not sure when she will catch up with us.

Stewart Mustang: Great performing aircraft with cruise speeds above 200 knots. Akro is easy - stalls docile. Look out the canopy and one sees a familiar P-51 wing. But look inside the cockpit and it is a homebuilt with custom configured controls and systems. Everything functions like a Mustang but with homebuilt nuances. Landings in the Stewart are easy, very stable touchdown and rollout....if you've landed a Pitts, you are very familiar how much closer you are on the ashphalt than in a real P-51. A shame many more Stewarts are not flying. Definately a high performance homebuilt, not for the beginner flying wise and system wise.
