There was a pilot from here in Salem that also flew it a bit named Van Eisenhut.

I have mentioned it before on here, but in 83? we were down in Harligen for Airsho, & my buddy, the late Merle Gustafason took George Vanden Heuvel for a ride in Charles Kemp's "Mary Mine".

44-64005 'MARY MINE' - Charles Kemp - Jackson,Missipi
A real 361st FG veteran this mustang was delivered to the group in mid-1944 & was assigned to the 376th FS & became the aircraft of Lt. George R. Vanden Heuvel. He named it 'Mary Mine' and claimed 9 'kills'. After the war it passed through the RCAF & other private owners before Charles Kemp restored it to its former glory. This photo shows George Vanden Heuvel 2nd from left, Charles Kemp 3rd from the left and Don Vulgamure (a 376th FS,361st FG pilot) 4th from the left. (photo Steve Gotts)

Thats Merle on the right. :f4u:

I say we nickname Mark "the mole", since he's underground on WIX so much. Sorry, I just watched the Great Escape about 5 times this past few days. Therapy (need to get back to liquor!)...
