Would it have killed the crew if they had not gotten out?

It was at that moment a Death Trap.

Yes it is a bit hyperbolic and I apologize if it offended anyone.

But that being said...I cannot imagine building an aircraft, especially a combat aircraft, that would not have some sort of override or crew controlled system in place to tell the computer that it is wrong and be able to fly the thing. Airbus had a problem one time at the Paris show and flew an airliner into the trees...regardless of what the crew did. Why put a human in the loop?

I'm on the side of the brave men and women who fly these aircraft. I'm sure the engineers will look at this problem and come up with a solution. I just hope the crews have some input and are able to fly the airplanes. That's what they are there for.

erm... isn't the B2 one of those birds that is unstabe without the computers? I believe the F117 is as well. needs them constantly working to keep it on the sraight and narrow. So, no computer, no flyee.
