P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding on something with a hammer.

S: Took hammer away from midget.

Rob,
There are at least four more Bulgarian MiG-17Fs in the USA:

46 is at the Eighth Air Force Heritage Museum in Savannah, in Vietnamese colours.
86 is at the Warner Robins Museum of Aviation, in Soviet colours.
108 was dismantled at Camarillo CA in Oct02. I haven't heard of it since.
115 is at the Evergreen Museum at McMinnville, again in Soviet colours.

Regards,
Andy Marden

Wow, I don't know of any other Bulgarian MiG's that have made it into the country. The vast majority of US MiG's are Polish, with a few Chinese variants here and there. Pretty cool stuff!

There's a guy named James McKean in nearby Mabank, TX that supposedly has two MiG-17F's...one airworthy and one in storage. They've even had N-numbers assigned, though it wouldn't seem as if these are the same machines. Almost too much of a coincidence that they are located within just a few miles of each other IMO.

Then you have Randy Ball with his operational Fighter Jets Inc MiG-17F (Lim-6) with a permanent address also listed in Mabank, Texas (good guy btw).

Lots of MiG's and MiG owners right in that local area!

Don't forget that CWAM at Lancaster, TX, has both a Bulgarian MiG-23UB and MiG-21UM in addition to the pair of Bulgarian Mi-24Ds, quartet of Mi-2s, and trio of L-39ZAs. :)

If you are talking about the one outside De Ridder antiques in nearby Forney. this one is an ex Polish Lim-5.

It's also the oldest surviving Polish Lim-5 (serial# "1C0003").
