Looks like Jackson in the back seat in that video.

Spielberg must be a pilot himself, otherwise I don't see how Jackson could go fly with Spielberg in the front seat of an aircraft with such limited back seat controls.

Spielberg has always been a WWII aircraft nut...good to see him out there flying in one.

I thought that was Cruise in the front seat, not Spielberg. I didn't know that Spielberg was a warbird nut. What do you know about this? I do know that he values the contributions that our W.W. II vets made. Evidence of this is Spielberg's focus on putting the attention of the plight on the Jews during the Holocaust, such as the making of Schindler's list and support of numerous other pro-Jewish museum's, organizations, and historical collections. Spielberg is even a strong backer of the new National W.W. II Museum to be built in New Orleans.

I wonder if by showing Spielberg the Mustang, that this was to give him more appreciation of what Mustang pilots did during the war. Rumor is that Speilberg wants to start production soon on "Red Tails", the movie about the Tuskegee airmen. Is this related, I wonder.

Don't forget, the movie Always was a Spielberg remake of a Guy Named Joe.

And "Empire of the Sun" featured a boy enamored with airplanes, Japanese and American, with stirring -51 phootage at the end . . .

That is Tom Cruise in the front seat of the Mustang in the video. Tom is easy to recognize, he looks a lot like Bill Greenwood, except a little shorter, and perhaps a donut or two thiner.

Speilberg's father was a crew member on A-20s. His first movie was shot in the cockpits of ww2 planes. It showed him and his friends all dressed up in pilot gear in the cockpit then it would splice into actual gun camera footage.

I think thats what I heard too. Anyone got any pics? I remember he was on some talk show a couple of years ago (Oprah???) and he took the host for a ride.[/quote]

There is a inflight video out there when he took Dianne Sawyer for a ride. I think it was good morning America.

I'm not sure how appropriate the over all site is, but here is a gallery of pictures of Cruise with his Mustang, towards the bottom of the page...

http://justjared.buzznet.com/gossip/200 ... flying.php

On MustangsMustangs.net they show that the aircraft was originally an F-6K, and restored to D model configuration, however it is registered as a P-51K in the FAA data base.

I wonder if he and Travolta and maybe Harrison Ford would donate some $$$ to a B-29 project or two for a chance to sit in the right hand seat????

I suppose there could be a connection (or not) between Spielberg checking out the Mustang and Ed Shipley being asked to fly around Skywalker ranch.......

http://www.airshowbuzz.com/videos/view.php?v=851fc07b

I hope they keep the CGI to a minimum.
