My prediction is zero bids. I wonder why he calls them 'airships'. Seeing as the original add on barnstormers was one at 500k and one at 250k and a 3rd 'data plate' of unknown price the deal is getting a little sweeter.

:D

Isn't this the same pile of FOD that was posted several months ago as to what a carnival lashup junk pile it really was?

Do you guys think the starting bid would even be a reasonable price for the collection of parts they are offering?

I get the feeling that even $50,000 is too much for it.

Go with your feelings, young Skywalker.

Just remember: This is eBay... $4000 for a burnt-toast likeness of Lincoln... :P

Imho if you want a P-40 (like me btw) and have 50k to spend (unlike me at the moment) you would be better off using it to purchase new extrusions like longerons, etc.

I don't think there are even any wings included but not sure.

I never said that I wanted to buy it, but given a rock bottom price, it would make someone a nifty little museum diorama.

Wings, I'm not sure. If there are no wings, jeez, it shouldn't be worth anything close to $50,000.

And, what if we took the price of a flying P-40 minus the cost for getting this example to that same flying condition. Something tells me that if the price was based on this kind of calculation the seller would be paying someone to take it away.... if only...

Hmm... I'm hungry, is that toast still for sale?

My bad there is a wing. It looks significantly worse than the fuselage. It is a neat display. The former owner here in Florida would truck it around to shows on the trailer which is where i saw it long ago.

I'm sure the owner would throw in some toast at no extra charge.

Hey guys, what you are buying is the last available projects that you can get your hands on today.Remember that there are mustangs flying today that were just as bad.Cubic money will rebuild these its just how bad do you want one. There are some rather expensive goodies in the pile but I dont see 50Gs worth.Offer them 25 for it and that would be fair with what I can see that is good.

Good luck with getting the project. It would be one heck of an up-hill battle to get that to static display, let alone flying.

IMHO, I am pretty sure there are still some other P-40 airframes still waiting to be discovered, but you are right that there really aren't many left. It'll take some good detective work to find the remaining ones. I wish I could go looking for them... I've got a couple leads. Haha, but how reliable... hmm.... I dunno.

Cheers,

David

Cubic money *ALWAYS* helps.

You can start by telling the guy that the
P-40 wasn't made of gold. :-)

as a potential flyer it's a decent deal...... as a static dust collector, a total bust out.
