After nearly rupturing an eyeball trying to read the text, I believe the event took place in Stratford CT. correct? What was the occasion?

Its hard to read you have to enlarge your screen ,Says in the article they were doing an airshow in Jersey and flew up to Stratford(Bridgeport airport) for lunch then all 13 of them went back to Atlantic City.You think I would of heard them that day i only lived a 1/4 mile from the Airport.Maybe Jerry or Chris will have something.

I can't see that article you mention for some reason, but I know what you're talking about after the other respones.
It certainly did happen. I just wish I was there!
I've heard many of the participants talk about it over the years.

My dad happened to be home that day changing the radiator in his car. He was 21. My uncle, (his brother) worked in Fairfield and called him saying he saw a gaggle of fighters fly over him as they were heading towards Bridgeport airport. As soon as my dad heard of the news, he was jumping to get down there but had to wait for his father, (my grandfather) to come home for lunch. Hurrying my grandfather along with his sandwich, he drove his father back to his work before departing to the airport where the “squadron” was. By the time my dad got to the airport, the pilots proceeded to start turning over there aircraft. As he rushed up to the Warbirds he snapped these quick shots with a Kodak 110 Instamatic. He doesn’t even really know why he took the camera that day, but here they are for all to see!

What my dad couldn’t believe was that there was no security of any kind. Apparently he was no more than 15ft away from the first P-51 turning over. He and every other curious onlooker actually had to back up to let enough room for the planes to taxi out! Those days seem to be gone. :cry:

Thanks Chris ,I knew you would come thru. J.Shaver I heard took a bunch of pics or someone who was with him.That must of been cool ,out washing your car or something an 13 warbirds fly over out of the blue.Ya security pre 9-11 was differant back then.
