F4U-7

I guess one could make the case about being "greedy" My understanding
is that the Midway folks in CA had the funds to restore the plane. The
battleship folks did not. Money talks.....I'm glad it's going to be fixed
but I will miss seeing it.

If you look at the USS Midway Museum's list of things under restoration
they have multiples of several types. They have a Wildcat from NMNA
that came out of L Michigan. They have a couple of SBDs (The -1 used
to be at B/P but they didn't have the money to fix it.), a couple of
Corsairs and a couple of Avengers and two Phantoms. These folks must have a really good development office to be able to raise the funds for that many projects.

French Corsairs

Wow, look at all those photos. Any way to get high-res digital copies?
The French F4U-7s and AU-1s are not covered nearly as well as they need to be here in the States.

I saw the F4U-7 at the San Diego Aerospace Museum last month. It is in pieces on the floor. One group, with an old friend of mine, Lynn, was working on the vertical fin.
