HHmmm, candidates from WIX could be:

David Aiken

Jack Cook

So many knowledgeable people on this forum that would be excellent at that job.

I liked this part, "Position will require domestic and some international travel."

Wow, international travel! I wonder if that historian will be going overseas a lot for all of FHC's recoveries! Pretty exciting stuff!

Well lessee...

I don't much like 'domestic travel' unless it's somewhere I wanna go AND I'm able to move around at my leisure...

And so long as it remains a pain in the a$$ to travel internationally, I'm happy with the good 'ole USA.

I'm not one for speaking in public, and most certainly haven't the temperament of a diplomat...

I don't play well with others, (unless they're 5'4" to 5'9", nicely proportioned, brunette, and in possession of some
intelligence) so the 'highly collaborative structure' thing wouldn't be my bag...

I am not a widely recognized 'leader in the field of military aviation history', and do not possess a 'national reputation'...

Well, not the kind they're looking for, anyway...

That-there part 'bout havin' one'a them 'advanced degrees in military history, museum studies or related fields'... well,
let's just say I t'wern't much 'fer skoolin' past the junior college...

But they sez it's only 'perferred so could be I gots me a chance there!!!

However...

'Broad knowledge of aviation and WWII aircraft required'...

That's me alright...

Too bad 'bout all that other stuff...

Fade to Black...

Looks like they want an academic with no hands on practical experience,...hmmmm, wonder where they can find one of those ? Seems like someone with these kind of qualifications already have jobs with the alphabet museums and universitys. They are the ones that are shaping the policy that we've been griping about !

I guess I fit that bill, as I am a college grad with a BA in History and minor in Museum Studies, working as Assistant Curator and Oral Historian at the EAA AirVenture Museum. What policy is it exactly that "we" have been shaping that's such the problem? And also, other than perhaps someone with the credentials of Don Lopez (RIP), who has "hands on practical experience" with military aviation history from WWII to the present? Just curious...

Zack

Zack, I was referring more to some of the folks that have made certain governmental policies as it regards recoverys, ownership rights, and preservation. Those who want to be the center of the preservation universe almost to the exclusion of others who they regard as the great unwashed.

I think he was referring to the Navy Zach.
Evergreen's former director of collections had a Masters
in Histroy majoring in early Pac NW history and didn't know
the difference between a P-40 and WD-40
