Of course, and Roosevelt's wheelchair and Washington's ivory teeth should be used by some geezer in Palm Beech, FL because we all know that if something is in a museum and not being used it is worthless and may as well be a plastic model.

in reality Washingtons teeth were made of wood.......and I buy hoverrounds for all those old geezers in fl...with my tax dollars.

Actually they weren't wood.

P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding on something with a hammer.

S: Took hammer away from midget.

I took your comment to be a sarcastic joke, which is what mine was meant to be as well. If you were being 100% real with your comment, then my comment stands.

Here are some shots and captions that I posted on WIX back in November 2006 of Flak Bait. I was there in 2007 and she was in the same spot:

Here is the center section of Flak Bait

Image

Flak Bait's right outboard bomb rack

Image

Her tail gun compartment

Image

Flak Bait’s right side aft fuselage. You can see the right waist gunner's opening at the bottom. Note on this and the wing photo how the red border on the star and bar from 1943 has been painted out by hand with a brush. Too cool!

Image

Here is one of her wings. You can see how she earned her name. Look at all of the patches on this one section. She has these patches all over! I was fascinated to see that the patches were painted over with thick zinc and a brush.

The rest of the post with a lot of other photos of aircraft at Garber and Hazy can be seen here:

I would love to just touch this piece of OUR history. The courage it took to fly in these machines...what a great, great, great generation...

Nope..that's just jets. 8)

Seriously, though, those pics show just how well preserved she really is, and also what an invaluable resource she is to us colors and markings geeks. It wasn't until us modelers started actually paying attention to the existing relics and preserved original aircraft that the "interior green" myth was debunked. Until a decade or so ago, most of us had never heard of Dull Dark Green or Bronze Green, and the idea that wheel well and bombays would be painted Neutral Gray seemed ridiculous. If you look at the NMUSAF Marauder, everything inside is (incorrectly) painted Interior Green. Not that I'm complaining..the Marauder is one of my all-time faves, and I'm thrilled that she still exists at all.
