Jeff Ethel SNJ / T-6 Question

Thu Mar 13, 2008 7:28 pm

Jeff Ethel was part owner of an Texan that was marked as "White 66" , and was marked as a Navy SNJ. It was kept at Chesterfield Airport in Richmond Virginia in the 1980`s. Last time I saw it before it left Richmond, it was in a hanger at Richmond International (Byrd Field) around 1991. I have not seen it since.
Would anyone happen to know any info on this Texan. Specifically the Registration # and more importantly the serial number, and it`s current where abouts ? I actually had a walk around done with this Texan, Jeff Ethel did the honors himself...roughly in 1983.
I have several photos of this Texan, but all film based, old and not real clear. I can make out that it had SNJ in Navy serial style on the tail...and possibly SNJ-4. That`s not to say it may have been a T-6 painted up as an SNJ though.
This photo was taken at Richmond International roughly 1983 time frame, and was on display with Fi Fi.
Any help would be well appreciated, as I have been trying to find out this info for many years. Including contacting Jeff Ethels son, whom verified that this was indeed the Texan that he owned. Unfortunately, he did not know the serial or N-Number
Thanks, Robert N. Abbott Jr.

I believe there is a T-6 based at Dinwiddie that is in a partnership with a fair amount of owners. Seeing as Dinwiddie is only a few miles from FCL do you think this could be the same plane?

Wow....

I don't think that is the plane based at dinwidde. I'm am pretty sure that airplane partnership is an airpane that used to be based at norfolk, walt orlich's. I may be wrong but my two cents.

FAA database shows it registered to someone in Ashland, VA which is just north of Richmond. Probably based at Hanover County.
