A while a go (months) I read an article about some crazy scratch built unlimited racer, it had counter rotating nasa blades that looked like a new age killing machine, the wing was super thin, the cowl was sealed, the engine was water cooled and it had tubing in the wing that ran to the engine for cooling. The pilot also sat close to the tail like a Geebee R-2, It didn't have a name as I recall. Sure was the coolest plane I've ever seen though, but I couldn't find a site or any info on it on the web.

Anyone know what I am talking about?

I read the article in Pacific Flyer/Landings.com as well. I looked around the web at the time and couldn't any other information on it. It was almost as if it was a hoax.

I will say this...whoever flys that bird the first time has some mightly big cojones. I don't think aerodynamically it will have a problem, it just seemed like an enormously complex aircraft from a systems perspective - way too much could go wrong.

I think it was built to attempt to break the propeller-driven aircraft speed record...I think it was too light to qualify for Reno in Unlimited.

Built by David Rose. It is a follow up to Mach Buster, which never flew, and Renegade, which also never flew. This is what was written on Barnstormers about it.

That is fantastic! What a dream.

I remember going to a forum at Oshkosh where a professor demonstrated that it was quite feasible to exceed the speed of sound in level flight with an aircraft like Machbuster.
