Just wondering if anyone has information on Haleiwa runway in Oahu Hawaii? I was able to find a page with a few pictures of it, but I had heard that it was quite grown over by now.. Are the pictures on the page below actual pictures of Haleiwa Runway? Or is it over grown by now?

Those photos were taken in 2005, which is when I was there, I would guess it's pretty much the same today, only 2-3 years on.

When I walked Haleiwa in November 1991, it appeared quite like the photos (above URL) made in 2005... tall "plants" pushed up through the tarmac so one could not see down the runway...a car might make it in some areas, but not in others as the 'plants' had taken over the entire strip.

While Haleiwa was packed earth in 1941, the runway at Kahuku Golf Course was a narrow strip of tarmac. Kahuku runway handled a B-17 and Haleiwa had two B-17s to land there during the attack.

I was at Kualoa park in '2005, and if you knew what you were looking at, could tell it had been an airfield at one point. It was beautiful there.

Humm - cool site - I have never been to Haleiwa but I have been up to the Kahuku airstrip - I went to school in Laie for awhile.
