mornin' everyone :)

need the ID for this ship

a 354th FG P-51B nicknamed "Scampy" - most probably 353rd FS

Image

could it be Don Beerbower's 43-12375 FT-E "Bonnie B II" at an earlier stage ? this is a wild guess due to the position and style of the swastika, when comparing to other photos of that ship....

thanks
Martin

I think it's funny how the caption reads that Capt. Beerbower is pointing to the swastika when in reality none of them are even looking in the direction of the aircraft.

I've got the original clipping among my Beerbower memoriabilia Martin and can't figure it out. I even asked a few guys at the 354th reunion. It may not even be a 353rd ship. Took me long enough to ID the Spokane Spook has I always thought it was Meserve's a/c.

Steve Blake's landmark book on the 354th FG is due out soon. I ordered it via the link below (only place I've seen it so far), and expected it to arrive shortly after ordering, but it didn't.

I happen to be in contact with Steve himself, and he tells me it will actually be a month or two yet as it's being printed now.

Till then:

And my donation of 2700 pages of 4th FG PDF history to Steve gets me ... nuthin.

Actually, it's not Steve's fault - but he did order a 354th FG DVD from me a while back, and his nice note was how he got on my email list. I never put two and two together that he was THE Steve Blake. I told him that I had ordered it from Historic Aviation, and that's when he filled me in on the publishing details. Can't wait to see it! :D
