Thats the difference between the Navy and the Army, the Navy did not write off the aircraft, they are still carried on the books.

If you want pictures of a real PBJ you will have to come visit us. Pensacola’s is just a run of the mill B-25-J made up and painted to resemble a PBJ-1-J.

Tell ya what, as soon as I can twist my wifes arm into a road trip, you better believe I will....When I "first Started" running B-25s down, I looked for this Mitchell that use guys are working on, for five years. Knew it was out there, and could never get in touch with the guy in Jacksonville that "had her", so I looked, and I looked, and I looked, then a guy named Mark Sawyer shows up at my house with pictures of this aircraft which looked pretty much abandoned, minus her wings. A year of so later, Tom Reilly has her, then she's gone. I had wondered where she had gotten off to. At work right now, send me an email address where I can send you some pics, and you can post...just please make sure I am credited for the either the photo or a photo from my collection, I will let you know which is which

Hey, just got back from the Naval Museum..it will be a bit before I can get the pics posted, as the server I am using keeps booting me offline everytime I try to download the pics on Photobucket...won't even do one at a time.
Got some pic of the Coronado..Bearcat...SB2U....PB4Y...Brewster Bermuda...Brewster Buffalo....T-28...Marlin....George...some of the Lake Michigan a/c ...and a bunch more....Sorry Gary1954....I looked and looked, but I couldn't find the Peanut Butter an Jelly....but I managed to get pics of a funny painted B-25 LOL!
Taigh, they ran me outta there when I started moving furniture around to get at the cowling on the Skyraider...so I wasn't much help on the carb type and numbers.
My favorite display was the two Catalinas...the complete Cat is suspended over a wingless fuselage, that is cut-away on most of the port side (red side for you Marines), showing the crew positions...very detailed.
I'll have to admit though, in a non-biased comparison, the PV-2 Harpoon was THE most beautiful aircraft on the entire base...IMHO....LOL

Well, we sure did have a ton of D model stuff around when we did that restoration. I transported it with another gentleman from KCLE to BVI. Then we cleaned the aircraft up, and began restoration of the aircraft. I lelft for college shortly after that, so I was not there for the day to day basis. So I guess I was confused by the stuff I assume that was going into the aircraft to make itlook like a PBJ. Thanks for pointing it out so politely for me.
