What have we here? An F-84 with and N-Number?

I was perusing my inherited photo stuff when I found these pictures...

AN F-84 with the registration number (currently reg to another aircraft) N84JW

No clue as to the date but the location says Addison (Dallas)

Anyone know about this one?

that used to be at DeerValley a number of years ago. I heard the ferry flight out of there was a bit of a adventure. Air comics did a story on it as well.

Hi,
There was a dispute over the ownership with the U.S.A.F. I was lucky enough to see it make a couple of touch and goes at Ontario

when a hydralic line to one of the speed brakes burst causing a small in flight fire :shock:

bringing out the crash trucks and emergency vehicals. I dont think it ever flew again, its now a gate gaurd at Malstrom AFB. :roll:

The F-86G that was previously owned by the Olympic Flight Museum then sold to Cavanaugh has an N-number. Supposedly this one will ber restored to flying condition. I don't remember what the number is but I know I have it in my notes at the house I'm moving out of.

I also photographed that same F-84F at Addison back in the 1980s. I was pretty stunned to see it! :shock:

i might have seen this AC in Houston area once. They were showing it to a couple with a daughter about 19 yrs old. We were in a hanger. Things went sour real quick after she lost a gold bracelet down beside the seat of the AC. Never heard the outcome.

I see on the FAA registry that most of these are owned by colleges... I'm guessing that they are in their A&P school systems and are registered for some sort of book keeping reasons?

Curtis, it is actually an "F" model. N9450 (S/N 51-9420)

It was restored at Chino by Unlimited Aircraft. I remember when it was being put together. The Horizontal was on saw horses, for months it served as the bar.

These aircraft were/are loaned to educational institutions by the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare. One of the requirements of the loan agreement was that the aircraft must be registered with the FAA. They were not registered in advance of being restored to flight status!

The Yankee Air Force / Yankee Air Museum has F-84F 51-9501 that was registered as N5006. http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0265528/M/

Is that the F-84F that used to sit out in the weeds at Kalamazoo Airport, in company with an engineless B-57A? The 84 wore a rather striking white-and-mustard civilian scheme...I assumed that was probably the result of a college refinishing class, sounds as though I may have been right. I have a pic or two of the 84 around somewhere, and the reg "N5006" rings a bell...

At one point shortly after it's grounding, that F-84 was at the Pima Air Museum. I believe this was the early 80's or so. When did it leave Pima and go to Malstrom?

Until a couple of years ago, Pima had J. Broughton's F-84F on display. The one in which he flew whaen a member of the 'Birds.
