USAAC wrecks

Hi all,

I was wondering what the rules are to recovering USAAC aircraft? There seems to be many USAAC within the U.S.

I know a lot of wrecks only contain small peices. But even that I wouldn't mind trying to recover.

There is few US aircraft in the rivers in Serbia in very good condition... more or less.

B-24 in the river Dunav [Danumeb] near Beograd [Belgrade] and also one Thunderbolt at the bottom of Morava river close to the Braljina village. Also there is grave on the Jasterbac mountain near Krusevac, Srbija [Serbia]. There was buried pilot of Lightning.

do you know the details of the crash,is it recoverable? how deep the water,populated?

i found this when searching for the B-24 in the River Dunav. Its got a huge list of aircraft crashes. It says somewhere in there about a b-24 crashing in that river with 3 KIA's.

If they are not on private land that they most likely are protected under State (at least that is the impression I get in NY) or Federal laws.

That is what I've gathered but I have not looked into it like others here have.

The biggest question is what is left of an aircraft worth recovering. I mean I've seen some cool wreckage of C-46 and B-25s but both of them are not worth getting out of the woods as you can get a complete aircraft for less (in the end).

B-24 is in relatively in good condition. During the sand diging workeing machine was get out one of his engine and by this accident airplane is discover. Engine is in the depot of the aviation museum in Beograd [Belgrade] and I have see it few times. Airplane is fall after the return from the bomb raid and it have no any bomb inside. But officials are stop any talk and effort to get this bomber on sun light.

Long time ago I have interview a former pilot of the Yugoslav Kingdom aviation who was member of the Draza Mihailovic units. During the war he had rescued and forward to the clandestine airfield 50 Ally airman. He remember that there was even black aviators.
