Some of the others are as follows...

F2G Bu.88463 being restored to static by Bob Odegaard, although I had heard that it is in hiatus at the moment.

FG-1D Bu.88303 was supposedly under restoration for Paul Allen, but I think this is now stalled as well.

F4U-5 (former burned out wreck behind Tom Reilly's place... Bu. No???) is being restored for an American owner in France.

F4U-4 Bu.97302 (I think... otherwise it's the former Cavanaugh bird... I know the best bits of the two were combined, and the rest sent to Vought Heritage) is under restortion for Jim Fry at Ezell Aviation.

FG-1D Bu.92690 is under restoration by Dave Etchell

F4U-4 Bu.81164 being restored by Bob Odegaard for his own collection.

F4U-4 Bu.81857 also with Bob Odegaard.

There was also an FG-1D/F4U-1 (birdcage) combination airframe that was offered for sale by Ross Jowitt in NZ, which was sold to someone in the States. believe that this airframe is also under restoration... anyone know who, or what the "official" Bu. No. is for this one? Ross also had one under restoration himself, but that's now for sale.

F4U-4 Bu.97330 with Craig McBurney.

There are others under restoration, but their status is a bit more murky.

I spoke with Lex several months ago and he said there has been some sheet metal work completed but as you can imagine there is still a lot of work.

If I remember correctly he said his wife is doing the website updates so it is probably not being updated often. His contact information is on the website so you can get up to date information from him.

I'll probably email him too, just because it has been a long time since I've spoken with him.

Thanks for asking, and good to hear from you. Our web site is really only outdated because we have not done much to the Corsair. We have purchased a hangar in nearby Cambridge, MN and are repainting an N-3-N at the present time. We have not had extra funds or time to start on the rebuild, but I have acquired a few more parts and another engine. My wife, Mary is the one that did the website so, the price was right. I do remain hopeful that I can actually start in earnest this fall.

Hi all,F4U-5NL Bu No 124493 FAH608 is progressing here in Darwin,all major structural work has been completed,we have just finished the air duct panels around the centre section,all the gear and wing fold has been operationally tested.We still have lots of work to do on the fuel system,wiring,and electrical components,and the engine & mounts & cowls are all still at Ezells in Tx being built up as a firewall fwd package.Best Regards,Pete

F4U-4 Bu.81164 is NOT being restored by Bob Odegaard for his own collection. Some parts off 81164 may have endedup with Bob but the airframe is registered to Jim Tobul. I know, I did the registration for Jim.

There's an F4U-4 presently in storage in the SF Bay area, the owner is collecting parts with the intention of restoring it at some point in the future.

Hi everyone, Im one of Craig Mcburney's guys working on the -4. We are reworking the website and should have it going in the not too distant future. As far as the Corsair, we are cruising along on our disassembly of the spar and thats where we stand right now.

A project,eh? sounds quite interesting. Corsair projects are sorely needed. Its such an obscure warbird, thats for certain. Heres a thought: Build a plastic model, have a friend take a picture of it, and include it in next years "what I did last summer" essay at school this fall....cant miss A+ !!..good luck with it, we are all behind you.

I just found a Corsair for sale on Barnstormers.

Here's more on this Corsair from someone who visited it. What a shame it was not taken care of:
"I’ve been to look at that plane. It’s a very interesting project but missing many critical components including the outer wing panels and wing fold mechanism which were removed with a gas cutting torch. The remains of the airframe was used by a Midwest company to test storm windows. They welded a steel framework between the gear legs and mounted to it a test window. The Corsair engine was then started and water hosed into the prop arc. The combination of wind and water made for a very effective test platform for simulating the effects of hurricanes and tornados on new storm windows."
