Wishful thinking, I' m sure, but any i.d. on the two a/c? Tallichet had at least a half dozen different P-boats at one time or another, so that doesn't narrow it down much. David Legg, are you on this thread?

Easy, it's which ever one was behind his Jax restaurant in 1978-9.

I live 30 miles from Edenton. Edenton was a Marine Corp Air Base during the war. I started flying in 1976 and did a lot of touch & goes at that airfield. I never remember seeing a PBY on the field or any planes in the woods surrounding the airport.

I have a friend who runs a maintenance hanger there. There is a few old timers still around. Next time I'm there I'll show them the picture.

If I had to guess, I would say that is not Edenton MCAS.

But I'm not 100% sure...

The closest NAS is Weeksville NAS, here in Elizabeth City, This is where the Blimps were based. One of the blimp hanger is still standing.

I think that would make the PBY Bu 46624 and the TBM Bu 53229.

Alright! Way to go Warbirdnerd.
BuNo46624 was a bit elusive for me to follow up on but I got it. C/n 1988 is a 5A from the Nawlins plant. Reg as N9502charlie, it was NOT one of Tallichet's ex FAB Brazilian Cats. It wasn't listed with his other "parts source" planes either. How did you determine what he had at what time? It's PBY research.. I gotta know!
What is 46624's current status? Is it still around?
This makes by my count (as per David' Legg's book to be honest.) at least ten PBY's that Tallichet has been involved in, if you count the three basket cases at Pima.
A man could do a lot worse in life than have too many warbirds. Wouldn't that be a wonderful problem to have. I'm sure he would have no shortage of volunteers who'd like to experience what he's going through. More power to him.

floats up

Anyone ever see the abandoned Catalina at the edge of the Coast Guard Airstation Elizabeth City. I might have a picture or two here somewhere, I saw it around 1982 or so. I wonder where it went, the photo here reminds me of it...

I'm thinking the restaurant called named in some kind of reference to
Guadalcanal. Someone previously said something about the TBM being in a Texas museum.

I know of two. We have a nice one at LSFM that's a late build, utility sqn model. and there's one sitting out in the weather at the Nimitz museum in Fredericksburg. Ihaven't seen that one in around 20 years.
