Your not referring to the ditch that she made are you? Horrible situation that happened but all ended happily. Though i must go with the old line "Well what are the chances of that happening again!"

I wish i had a chance to see that amazing looking bird in the air! Though I did get to see her at NASM so i guess that kinda makes up for it.

Still, are there any large bodies of water from Dayton to Dulles?

It would be pretty awesome to fly Shoo Shoo Baby to Udvar Hazy escorted by say 5 of the other airworthy Forts and perhaps a few Mustangs, Thunderbolts and Lightnings! Thanks god we have our dreams!

They did fly it, wrecked it, and now it is preserved. :crispy: I don't see them flying it there.

They didnt wreck it, they were just taking it through its sea trials...

I would expect that Shoo Shoo would be trucked there (or stuffed into a C-5). After the 307's bath I seriously doubt they would try to fly in Shoo Shoo. Not to mention... would Dayton even allow it to be flown out... (Probably not)...

I would also like to see the NASM's spare B-17G be displayed somewhere else (either sold or loaned, flying would be good too).

I would like to see The NASM go to Kalamazoo. That would be a great home for it. At any rate, I don't think we will see them fly it.

The 8th AF museum in GA deserves a 17. While we are on that subject...the AF Museum progam is doing wonders for the 17 sitting outside at Tulare.

Steve you know where I stand on that, static is not prison, and not everything can fly. This can be a debate forever. Fact is The NASM got lucky the crash was not worse than it was.

'Baby' spent ten years in restoration, just to be flown to the museum and retired. Is it that unthinkable that she could fly to her next 'assignment'?

You can't really compare the 307 accident to flying Shoo Shoo Baby again. The 307 made many successful flights and cross country trips with no problems.

Shoo Shoo should do fine as long as YOU PUT GAS ON BOARD !!! Just because you're the company test pilots doesn't necessarily mean you are the most qualified to fly the 307. He!! I'll bet that even a Cessna 152 pilot would have at least checked to see if there was enough fuel onboard.

You just get the most experienced current B-17 guys, and you fly her to Washington. Not a big deal ! If they put her into a C-5 things will have to be cut, just like they did when they brought her back from France.
