Even with a "Darton this" and a "Darton that" it still kaboomed... Hope the military had better luck with 'em! I can't afford to re-restore my T-6 every 400 hours.

IF those are current pictures, I find it a little disturbing that after an alledged engine failure that there has been no teardown of the engine. Unless there is significant damage to the engine that is not visable in the pictures.

Never ever ever ever underboost the engine. Never ever ever ever let the prop drive the engine.

If it tanks out on takeoff, leave the power on, climb power, and go back if you can. Pull back the throttle, you're toast, done, finito, it's all gone baybay.

And...heheeee.....If you're making passes at an airshow at cruise power..., make sure you set the mixture to rich on the climb out on the last pass as you're climbing out. Heheeee, intermediate mixture and 42 inches equals BANG BANG BANG

Thats a definite heart check......

I'm with you,I love/hate them all but the Wright's use twice the oil and last half as long? How many of the same planes had Pratt & Whitney's and Wright's? C-47, Wild Cats, BT-13/BT-15,B-29/B-50?
I would like to hear from some one that works/worked on and or fly's on the C-47,Wild Cats and how the 1820 v.s.1830 are to maintain on the ground and in the air? (i.e. cooling,cyl.changes,T.B.O. twin row v.s. single)

I had heard that a Wright R-1300 is half of a Wright R-2600. Is the mount the same and could you stick it on the front of a T-28A and make a hot rod out of it?

I think the earlier/lower powered 1820s were more reliable than the later ones.

I've ben told by every Wildcat pilot I've met that the FM-2 was twice the a/c and could eat a F4F for lunch. FM-2s bested the best the Japanese could offer ie Zero, Oscar, George, Frank, Jack ect ect.

I own BOTH of them, the Beach crash is for sale AS-IS, I am not going to tear down the engine just to snoop,that's up to the buyer notghthing sneaky. view it.

And the USAF is the one some idiot posted here saying it was smashed, IT WASN'T, here it is ready to go now. it took about 15k to fix with NO damage to Fuselage,wings or Engine.
