Many years ago in the TFC "tea room" at Dx one of the guy was fiddling about with an ELT. After a few minutes a SAR helicopter suddenly appeared & landed nearby.
The reaction from the guy with the ELT was utter panic with everyone telling him how much the bill was going to be for the false alarm etc.
What he didn't know was that the helio just happened to be passing & decided to drop in for a few minutes, nothing to do with his ELT fiddling at all, but his life was complete misery for about 5 minutes
