Welcome!

If you're into photography, get there early to get some good static shots....they'll let you in at 6:00 am and plan to stay till dark! This is the most laid back aviation event you'll likely ever attend. You can pretty much walk among the planes at will except when the props are turning. Before and after the formal show, alot of the birds go up for photo shoots, warbird rides or just fun. A long crowd line provides plenty of good viewing. Concession prices are very reasonable and I look forward to the pancake breakfast. Most important, introduce yourself to any WIXERS you recognize from the pictures on this forum or by their WIX/WRG apparel. If you see a line of 3 or more "synchronized" photographers in front of the bomber line, you've probably found some WIXers/

If you see a fat fifty year old with a floppy white hat, come over and say hi!

Jeff

Thanks for the tips, I'll be sure to show up early! Sounds like a great time, and I'll keep my eye out for others from WIX. I'm trying to convince CWH to take me along on the Mitchell or Beech 18, but I don't know how much luck I'll have!

Hey everyone, does anyone know of a decent hotel within say, 30min-1hr away from the show? I know theres one in Geneseo, but it is fully booked and probably was a long time ago, but I'd be willing to drive a bit, gotta be better than the 3 hour drive or so from Hamilton.

Don't know any hotel names, but I would check out any place in Henrietta. The town is right off the the I-90 so it's easy access coming from Canada, and it's at the intersection of the 390, which will get you down to Geneseo in quickly.

Thank you. I found a decent hotel, now I'm debating whether I want to fork out the money for it or do a daytrip. Decisions decisions. I suppose if I leave Hamilton at 4am I'd get there at a good time, and probably beat some traffic.... Would it be better to go on the Saturday or Sunday? Does everything at the show generally fly both days? Sorry for asking so many questions

Generally both days are the same and generally everything (or 95%) of the aircraft the come fly. It is not a real "static" type show. I think that might be one reason it is not a huge show but a really good show. So either day is good, Saturday will give you the time after to walk around and enjoy the aircraft, you are not going to get kicked out at 5:30 sharp. Sunday might fly the late arrivals from Saturday if they could not make it Friday.

Tim

If anyone is interested...

I spoke with the HAG this afternoon and they will allow you to camp next to your plane as long as you take down your tents in the morning. As of right now we might have 2 or three airplanes camping on the field. If anyone is thinking about flying in and camping please let me know. it would be cool if we could all try to tie down and camp near each other.

I have 3 rooms booked in Henrietta, I'm looking for something close to Geneseo in the meanwhile. I'm also looking for a rental car, or if anyone has a charitable soul... We'll be between 2 and 6 aboard the aircraft coming in!

 8)

Hey Ollie, Have you looked at Country Inn and Suites in Mt. Morris? It is really close to Geneseo. It may be booked by now. If so my wife and I can provide a shuttle service...As long as your ready to roll for a dawn patrol.

Actually, I have to change that reservation since it was made before your e-mail.

I'll attend that on Tuesday when I go back to the office for some flying.

I'll not be going now. :( Unfortunately, at this stage in the game, the drive to Geneseo from RI would leave me in agony!!! So while you all will be having a great time, I'll be making the final arrangements for my back surgery!

Take lotsa pix for me!!!!!! :D

Yikes! Sorry to hear about that. I had surgery in April and Thunder Over Michigan kind of set me back a little. Five days at Geneseo should really set me back. Good luck with the surgery and we will miss you.
