For the Tokyo Raid scenes, Damian Lewis that played Dick Winters in BoB should play the part of Ted Lawson. They kind of resemble eachother.

A good one for that part. A good actor too.

Bruce Willis? Confused

When I want someone to be protrayed I want an actor that was as respectful as the person they are portraying. I do not want an actor that has been a druggy, sex adict, or whatever to portray someone that was important and respectful in life. It just wouldn't be right. IMHO.

I guess what I am trying to get at is it would be important that the actor realize the importance of the person they are portraying and not look at it as another million to their estate.

Bruce Willis is very respectful of the military, much more so than the majority of Hollywood. As for the rest of that, I think we are talking a short list of actors that haven't been involved with drugs or sex scandals at some point. I think you will find the Bruce Willis is cleaner than many, and also has a respect for the military which would make him alright in my book. Many of our heros were flawed, look at Black Sheep Pappy, Doolittle was as human as the rest of us, although I know where you are coming from. Doolittle is my all time greatest hero and having a lessor man play him would bug me I must admit, but on the other hand you aren't going to find many out there that can fill those shoes.

I know Doolittle pretty well, have read just about everything I can find on him, have met and talked with many people who have known him personally including Hank Potter his navigator, his son John and grandson, and Carroll V Glines his biographer. I think the temperament, mannerisms, look, build, etc of Ed Harris makes him the best match. Now if someone would just hurry up and make a movie about him.

Stanley Tucci does look like Doolittle, i must admit. But Bruce could do it too. If any of these men actually do portray Doolittle, I think I would be ok with it. Think about it. Baldwin nuff said.

Besides what’s wrong with a little bit of drugs? Now here comes the hate mail. (Sarcasm)

NEW QUESTION: If you were a writer and wanted to condense Doolittle's life in 3hr's, what other significant people in his life would you make into the supporting cast? Wife, friends, etc...

Helen hunt as Josephine Doolittle
Joaquin Phoenix as Hank Potter
Chris Cooper as Admiral Mitscher
Dale Dye as Spaatz

I also think Paul Giamatti could possibly pull off Doolittle if he got in good shape, he is an excellent actor and capable of modifying his voice well for a roll.

You've already thought of this, haven't you Ryan? :)

Hey, maybe you can get in close to some of those Hollywood folk and be the historical accuracy advisor for the movie?

At least I'd know that somebody who was involved with a historical movie would actually try and make it historically correct!

That would be Michael Chiklis.

Physically, Michael Chiklis is probably the closest to Doolittle in height, and I think he's a good enough actor to pull off the mannerisms. Ed Harris would be good, too, but I think he's too tall.

Alec Baldwin's portrayal of Doolittle made me want to yak. I think Spencer Tracy did a wonderful job of portraying Doolittle in "Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo". Where are the Spencer Tracy's these days?

I think a young Ed Harris really looks like J D. As for Alec Baldwin, not much. He was pretty decent as Robt. Mcnamara in the tv special THE PATH TO WAR, all about the LBJ administration. It is worth geting on video or dvd and Donald Sutherland is superb as Clark Clifford.

So we need someone not too tall, with a round face, not too much hair, and full of confidence and leadership ability. RED AUERBACH, other than being deceased and not an actor; but he was a winner.
