Warbird Information Exchange

Hey everyone, still fairly new here but I have surely noticed that Bill and his Spitfire are well loved members here at WIX. I also have noticed that several of you are flight simmers and thought you all might like to see what I have just finished for FS2004. The base airplane is by Aeroplane Heaven but the paint scheme will be available shortly to download for free from the 'big sites'.

It is not perfect, as I'm sure Bill and others alike will notice, but it is, I hope, a very close replica.

BTW, Bill, if you read this I just want to mention how nice it has been to see you with your Spitifire at the Wings of the North air show for the past several years here in Minnesota. What a rare sight it is to see a Spitfire and I truely teasure those shows, thank you!

Paul, I live in Cottage Grove, just across the river from Fleming.
I was only around three when the CAF Minnesota Wing got its B-25 and after vistiting their hangar with my dad then, when all it was was an empty shell, I've been attached to warbirds ever since. I've really liked reading yours and fellow Minnesotan's posts to keep up to date on warbird happenings in our area.

I think your model is great!
It is hard to see the wording under the tail in other photos. It is very small, so you may not have to worry about it.


Your model looks very cool. It will be interesting to hear what Bill thinks of it.

Bill thinks it is pretty fine. Or as Paris would say," That's hot", it catches the overall flavor. If you want to make it a little more authentic, remove the rear view mirror( someday I'd like to try it with one) and the exhaust stacks look like Griffon ones, mine are the flatter fish tail types.The wings should have one cannon and one stub each. And yes, I do wear a David Clark modern helment that is tan and looks a little funny. The safer race type ones aren't very comfortable and the cool leather covered New Zealand one look great, but don't fit me well as they are very round and my head is more elongated. Of course since I don't fly over water if I can help it, I dont wear a life preserver. My paint is more light grey and green rather than two tone grey, It looks like you got the lettering pretty close.I enjoyed

Just need to set the record straight that I didn't make the model and I have no control over it, only the paint which is applied over it. The model itself is based on I believe the 1950's - 1960's G-AIDN. I used this model because it is the closest to Bill's available and I thought it would be nice to at least have the chance to some what fly it. I'll definitely consider some of the changes mentioned to the paint work.
