Corsair Restorations

Anyone have a knowledge of Corsair restorations going on out there? I am looking for specifics as far as who and where, I am working on a project.

A few years ago the National Warplane Museum was restoring a FG-1D Corsair but it has since been gone.

2. FG-1D is being restored by the Tri-State Warbird Museum close to Cincinnati Oh but it is not being documented by them. I have a lot of video and pictures that I am offering to give them in case they want to create a restoration website. A great group of guys. Here is their website:

3. I know you asked for one that is currently being restored, but if your project is collecting pictures, here is another website that may interest you:

You all have probably already seen this Corsair since it was restored to flight ready status and has flown into several airshows, but you may not have seen the restoration website.

I spoke with Lex several months ago and he said there has been some sheet metal work completed but as you can imagine there is still a lot of work.

If I remember correctly he said his wife is doing the website updates so it is probably not being updated often. His contact information is on the website so you can get up to date information from him.

I'll probably email him too, just because it has been a long time since I've spoken with him.

In addition to Mustangpilot's ex-CWH FG-1D, BuNo 92489 is also under restoration at Jerome.

The ex-Hooey bird (BuNo. 76628) that was at the NWM is now with Duane Doyle in CA. I think he is actually restoring two Corsairs, but I'm not sure of the ID on the second airplane.

In Australia there's one underway in Darwin - but I've seen the tail feathers in Victoria... (IIRC someone from the project posts here?)

And another at Wangaratta with Precision Aerospace.

Both to airworthy.

I think that's it for restorations outside N. America; anyone know otherwise?
