Today I'm flying gliders at Dillingham Field on the north shore of Oahu. Anyone know the WWII history of the field or a good source that explains it? A buddy of mine that grew up here told me it was a fighter base and you can see traces of the old revetments from the air. Thanks! [/i]

Here are some of the sites I came across when trying to find out if there are any aircraft displayed there...
http://www.geocities.com/hahinc/Dillingham.html
http://www.airfields-freeman.com/HI/Air ... Oahu_N.htm

I have it in the Locator at...
http://www.aerialvisuals.ca/Locator.php?City=Dillingham
Is there anything "displayed" there?

Mike

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

Mike,

There's remnants of an L1011 hulk used in filming the tv show Lost. There's also a derelect DeHavilland DH.114 Heron--I'll try to get the history on that one. The place is a bit of an aviation junkyard. Last time I was there a Gulfstream biz jet buzzed the place three times and landed. Shortly thereafter, a van full of scantilly clad, underage-looking chicks with "Girls Gone Wild" t-shirts pulled into the parking lot along with the guy that owns GGW (currently in jail I believe). They were doing a shoot on the beach across the street from the airfield. 30 minutes later an FAA inspector showed up wanting to interview witnesses and nail the pilots. Anyway, I digress...I'll try to do some snooping around the airfield today and report back...on the aircraft that is.

Paul, some time I'll tell you the story of my flight into there.
