Very interesting!

"....the Army became convinced that future designs would use engines buried in the wings for additional streamlining, and asked Continental to design a full-sized engine with a flat-opposed layout suitable for installation inside a wing. This led to the Continental O-1430, which would require an extensive ten year development period before becoming reliable enough to consider for full production in 1943 (now known as the IV-1430). By this point other engines had passed its 1,600 hp (1,200 kW) ratings, and while the O-1430 had a better power-to-weight ratio, there was little else to suggest it was worthwhile setting up production in the middle of the war."

 I did though pick up something at the Tico show from a vender (among other things), a NOS Edgewater Adapter....for only $75! It was partially hidden amongst some other junk, but I instantly zoomed in on it as I was walking up to his tent. I think only us sicko turret guys would get excited about something like this, ya know? :D

perhaps it may be a variant of the XP-67 engine which in the text reads a inverted V engine but sure looks like a flat engine. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XP-67_Bat
