Does anyone remember a model kit of a Cessna 170? It was made from ERTIL I guess. I never saw one, but someone told me about it. It was 1/48th scale. You guys ever see one of these? I am trying to find one for my first flight instructor who taught me to fly in the 170.

I seem to recall selling such a kit when I worked in a hobby store 25+ years ago...but I think it was Monogram....Don't even know if they still exist....But someone must be issuing thier molds.

Actually, the old Monogram kit is a Cessna 180. It was originally released in the mid '60s, and is in an odd scale like 1/36 or something. It's a simple but nice kit..I built one as a kid. Unfortunately it's been out of production for years, and is going for collectors' prices on Ebay these days. I'm not sure what it would take to convert it to 170.

I don't think there's ever been a kit of the 170..about the closest you'll get is a Bird Dog.

There have been a couple of 1/48 172s..AMT/Ertl and Minicraft. I'm not sure if they're the same kit or not.

Cheers!

Steve
