This is true, not even made up, as I saw the video: Cindy McCain was being interviewed and asked about the new 44 yr old v p candidate not having any national or international experience,. Cindy answered with a straight face, "That since Alaska was our closest state to Russia, that Gov. Palin had international experience". A comedian picked up on this statement and said since Mt. McKinley in Alaska is the highest US point, then Palin must also have outer space experience.
On the more serious side, according to today's paper, Palin stood up in her very conservative church and told the people that God sent us to invade Iraq, also that God wanted Alaska to build a big $40 billion pipeline for the natural gas companies. The video of this was on the church website, but was taken down in the last few days when it came out in public.

Hey Bill-

I usually try to stay out of these political arguments...but here is what she really said. Vastly different than what you have reported:

"Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also, for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending [U.S. soldiers] out on a task that is from God. That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God's plan."

She wasn't saying that is was God's plan, she was saying that the congregants need to be praying that our national leaders would make decisions within God's plan.

Watch the speech, you can find it on the internet. It is different than what is being portrayed in the print media.

I really didn't think Bill could find something wrong with her so quick!

And, in recorded history, how many millions of people have been killed because some A type with crowd appeal has told the assembled masses that 'God wants you to go get killed for him'? Any records of those charmers being the first one on the line with a weapon?
Wasn't it the late George Carlin who once said 'if God wants your money, isn't he more likely to come get it himself and not send some a$$hole in a sharp looking suit'?
This may draw a great deal of heat but I don't care, because in spite of what some 'right thinkers' may say, this is the nation where I am permitted to state my opinions, I look at the King James version of the bible and I see politically directed, 1600 year old campfire stories washed to meet the stories that Supreme Leader wanted to hear-might be true, might be all made up, but until someone can prove that he's been to 'heaven' and returns with pictures, I remain a very serious skeptic of the whole 'god is on my side and you are anti American' argument. If I was in a very strict, theologically run state, then I would be 'anti- whateverian' in this nation, I can and am permitted to express my doubts about the Emperors new duds freely-

Inspector-

No doubt about it :) I also don't think she was saying that. The whole snippet came from a section of her speech where she talked about praying for our soldiers. I was just pointing out that she was not saying the war was God's plan, but only that the congregation should pray that our leaders make good decisions. At least that is the way I took it.

My only point in bringing this all up is that it would be nice to have accurate, unbiased reporting. I don't care whose side you are on, right or left, Christian or Atheist, whether it be CNN or Rush Limbaugh. Just lay out the facts and let us make our own decisions based on what was actually said. It would have been simple for any reporter to just print the quote in full from the transcript instead of putting their own spin.

Vent off

Who is slated to stand trial for DWI.

all I will say is, I prefer someone with no internantional experiance, we need to take care of our house first, and if she is pro gun, and pro aviation, all the better.

obama, who claims to be the one for change, has not authored a single piece of legislation, and for the the time he has been in DC, have voted present, more than yes or no, and has spent half the time he has been then running for another office.
That does not sound like change, that sounds like a career politician.

I can see why people would pray for leaders who can make good decisions after the past 8 years. 8)

Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama said Thursday that the escalation of U.S. troops in Iraq, which he had opposed, has succeeded in reducing violence "beyond our wildest dreams."

Not to get too into this debate too much, but there needs to be some clarification here.

Obama acknowledges that over nearly eight years in the Illinois Senate, he voted "present" 129 times. That was out of roughly 4,000 votes he cast, so those "presents" amounted to about one of every 31 votes in his legislative career.

Illinois legislators often vote "present" and for a wide variety of reasons. Sometimes blocs of lawmakers do it as a protest in some dispute over rules and procedures. Obama was often joined in his "present" votes by 10 or 20 other senators.

And I'll be honest, I think it's shameful the Republican party is latching onto Obama being a community organizer. What's wrong with someone working at the most basic, grassroots community level??? Regardless, I believe he was a community organizer straight out of college and only for a short time. It's not like that's his only experience.
