On two different trips to New Zealand, our NZ host kept saying we MUST try the local Chocolate beer! (sounds God-awful  ) But on both occassions the bars were sold out because it was so popular. Has anybody tried it?

Chocolate beer is made with a dark hop called chocolate, not with Hershey bars.

Last year, after a very hot Saturday at Thunder (and meeting up with a bunch of WIX members), we went to some riverside bar/restaurant and I was served a tall Hoegaarden, a frosty glass of Belgian wheat goodness. Oh man...that (and the next one) really hit the spot. Haven't seen it on tap down here, but it is in some grocery stores.

Hoegaarden on tap sounds really good. I've rediscovered and been sampling the wheats this year. I've tried a few new ones and gone back and revisited some from years passed. I reallly like the Hoegaarden....it's a regular in the fridge now. Gonna try the Leinenkugel Original B29flteng suggested if I find it. I prefer the unfiltered wheats...yeasty prize in the flavor....swish it throughout the bottle or save it toward the last half of the bottle, like the prize at the bottom of Crackerjack's. :D

Franziskaner(too fizzy, too little flavor), Paulaner, etc. Tried the Sam Adams Imperial White, I want to say it reminded me of like a syrupy New Castle with a shot of hard liquor in it...not pleasant to my buds, but at 10% was definatley felt in buzzatude. I was only my second beer of the evening...might finish of the remainder of the 4-pack as black 'n tans.

Tried a Russian Wheat, Baltika No. 8. Nice wheaty taste. Odd taste on the backside, sorta like what butyrate dope smells like...ahhh, that's it...bananas. I wasn't bad, but I don't relish burping bananas the rest of the evening.

Another good one was a blond ale from Blanco, Texas. Firemans #4 from Real Ale Bewery..not bad.

Onward thru the fog.... 8)

The oldest brewery in America. Helping Pennsylvanians have s3x since 1829. I was surprised to see it in Florida a couple of years ago. It's good, but I'm more of a micro-brew guy these days.

My favorite is Moosehead Lager. Real good and 100% Canadian! :drinkers: Gotta support our friends up north! :drink3: Anyone else like Moosehead?

I also just tried Woodpecker Cider. Not bad. Made in England! :D

Oh love the buz from a Moosehead! :drink3:
