Good progress there Gary. At least the seats have a good home! 8)

Did some of your paint chip off the firewall on that edge or is that a dent?

Is that column aluminum or chrome?

Django, the paint was sanded off by me, as I had to fill an errant hole that was drilled by yours truly. I had to fill it with a flush rivet and then cheated a little by sanding it down a bit, so that when the final paint is applied, it won't be seen (in theory). Just don't tell anyone. ;-)

The column is polished aluminum, and WILL be painted prior to final installation.

Gary

Hey Gary
it's been quite a while since I've done much sheet metal but if I remember correctly red sharpie marker disappears when your alloy has reached the correct annealing temperature.
anybody else care to confirm or deny?

Hmmm...haven't tried that. Perhaps I should go experiment for y'all? :-)

Don't know about the red ones, but black sharpies work

Thanks Hal. That keeps me from having to remember to go try it for myself. :-)

It's a shame that we'll never see this finished.

I always checked to see what Gary was up to before I read any of the other threads. I wished now I had at least said something to Gary about how much it brightened my day to be able to vicariously work on things, that turned out right, through him.

What a waste of a good man.....Peace to him now and hope to his family that they can get through this time.....God speed Gary.

Strange; when I read about Gary this morning, his unfinished truck was the first thing that came to mind. Wish he'd have been able to see it to completion :(

This was the last rendering that I did for him last year. He wanted to build a trailer to haul the racer to Reno. After that wasn't in the cards, he wanted it to just have a white star on the door. It would be neat to see it completed, maybe with the Retro Aviation Inc logo I did for him on the door instead.

Maybe a cool shop truck for the Ezell's?

Too soon to think about things like that though. I looked forward to his emails and questions on this project every week.
