You can see a small picture of the truck mounted AAA here:
Nice girl

Hard to say authoritatively what is going on, but folks with agendas are running the reporting.

A decent take on it

That my friend is just a reference to a ridiculous but typical overstatement by the media. Take a look at this thread on another website to see more of the truth of the story: http://www.theakforum.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=94972. Looks like the gun might not even be functional. They'd sure have a hard time feeding it. Those of us down here in TX really aren't scared of what's going on down there - we just avoid the area. I do feel sorry for my Mexican pilot friends. What's really annoying is that the US media is trying to use it as an excuse to ban weapons.
Oh, and I'd like to have one of those myself when we do reenactments.

Ryan

BTW. I was flying close enough to the border yesterday that if I'd tossed a rock out the window it would've landed in Mexico

Sure looks more like a .30 call to me! And to call it a Heavy AA Weapon. The mainstream media is a JOKE (BAD Journalism and an agenda of it's own). Granted, I would not like ANY of those weapons fired at me.

Maybe the US museums could use that girl .......since she is interested in anti AIRCRAFT.. least they found a girl into aviation...

Could make a good roll model for people to get hooked onto to aviation more.

I studied that photo of the weapons yesterday, had a hard time finding the handle on the .30 cal.(using a smaller photo)

It doesn't look like what was mounted on the truck though. There are two pictures of it in front of the table. I cannot tell what the gun is on the left of the table and if the belt is just draped over it for show.

As much as I like to rag on the media (they don't get a pass here), they are mostly ignorant when it comes to fire arms, and government types like to play up to their fears.

To bad the two girls surrounding the suspect have to cover their faces.

If you look at the "zoomed out" picture with all the clips on the ground, the gun looks more like the Ma Deuce. I think the compression of the telephoto lens makes the gun appear small in relation to the smirking young woman standing near it.

its a M1919 .03cal as i reckon.

Could be a M2 .50 cal tho..

Hey look at the 2 armed guards.. they are women too i reckon...

Wed Apr 15, 2009 8:09 am

The other photo shows what looks like a Barrett .50cal.....

M2, I don't think so. Never saw a handle like that on an M2

The article states the AA was a .50 cal. Its either the gun on the left or not shown.

I'd guess the one on the left is .50 cal. But belt fed?

The gun on the tripod is a .30 Cal...look at the size of the pistol grip in relation to the ammo belt. Not a Ma Duce.

These .30 cal guns are for sale in this country. In semi-auto they are very easy to buy and kits are available to build your own. If I had the extra cash....

The gun on the far left looks to be a Barrett .50.

The ammo displayed is not impressive...the magazine collection is quite nice.
