That my friend is just a reference to a ridiculous but typical overstatement by the media. They'd sure have a hard time feeding it. Those of us down here in TX really aren't scared of what's going on down there - we just avoid the area. I do feel sorry for my Mexican pilot friends. What's really annoying is that the US media is trying to use it as an excuse to ban weapons.
Oh, and I'd like to have one of those myself when we do reenactments.

I studied that photo of the weapons yesterday, had a hard time finding the handle on the .30 cal.(using a smaller photo)

It doesn't look like what was mounted on the truck though. There are two pictures of it in front of the table. I cannot tell what the gun is on the left of the table and if the belt is just draped over it for show.

As much as I like to rag on the media (they don't get a pass here), they are mostly ignorant when it comes to fire arms, and government types like to play up to their fears.

To bad the two girls surrounding the suspect have to cover their faces.

If you look at the "zoomed out" picture with all the clips on the ground, the gun looks more like the Ma Deuce. I think the compression of the telephoto lens makes the gun appear small in relation to the smirking young woman standing near it.

The gun on the tripod is a .30 Cal...look at the size of the pistol grip in relation to the ammo belt. Not a Ma Duce.

These .30 cal guns are for sale in this country. In semi-auto they are very easy to buy and kits are available to build your own. If I had the extra cash....
