where were you on 7/20/69 ??? the day when we landed on the moon. i remember it vividly!!! i was at my dad's store by the cash register with customers all around watching a grainy black & white tv reception of the event. i can still feel the chill down my spine!! i remember tang orange drink & armstrong's famous words. i was in 3rd grade too!!

I was in Virginia at Langley looking at the Landing Simulator. Kind of neat being at one of the training sites as they were preparing to land.

I was 9 and at my Aunt's place in England. She made sure that we all were out of bed to watch it. It was very early in the morning but none of us could go back to sleep after.

Recently I saw colour footage of the landing and was struck how vividly I recollected the B&W TV pictures I saw.

The 100 Hour War between El Salvador and Honduras had just ended; there were two foreign airplanes interned in Guatemala, one an Honduran Corsair, the other, a Salvadorean Mustang.

I had seen them flying -separately- just one or two days earlier IIRC.

On the 20th, I begged my dad to gas his car up at a Gulf station, because they were giving cardboard LEM models with every 5 gallons purchased.

We watched the landing via microwaves, in color, a true novelty at the time in Guatemala.

great stuff other than muddy boots muddy diaper at the time!! a quirk of luck....... an old friend ron stone, who owned a beech at-11 bomber trainer that won prizes including best bomber at sun n fun 1998 stumbled upon the apollo 13 lem simulator in a junk yard in michigan. he bought it, restored or donated it to 1 of the top national museums in the u.s, wix member oscarduece can back me up on this as he owns ron's vietnam veteran cessna o-2 bird dog.

I was a little over 3 years old, dealing with a month old baby sister in the house, and still remember watching the launch! I remember the view of the rocket- with that big cone of smoke behind it- terrified me at the time.

What have we done lately? The shuttle program, while a great feat, was still more like a local tour bus for astronauts- we haven't been back to the moon, or anywhere beyond earth immediate area, since the 1970's!

I was nearly 10 years old and remember it very well! Our family went over to a friends house so we could watch it on a color TV (had no idea the camera on the LM was a black and white), and I sat on the living room floor totally enthralled by what I was seeing. I'll be 50 in a few days and I still get a thrill watching the footage. Wish we were going back.............

My dad shut down everything we were doing on our farm (this was possibly the only time I remember him being in the house when work needed to be done) and we all sat in the living room watching our old RCA black-and-white. I will never forget the space program--I grew up listening and watching the exploits of the early astronauts and the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo programs. I built models of every space vehicle kit produced, and dreamed of being somehow involved in such a great endeavor.

Having seen several shuttle launches, I think I understand a little bit> But the whole idea of such a courageous and grand reach for mankind certainly must be one of those things you had to be there for. You old folks sure have been throuh a lot!

Yes, but they were all filmed in the underground bunkers at 5c1. Keep it quiet or we will be overrun with tourists briging in their unwanted tourist dollars.
