Don Knotts was a drill instructor?

I heard rumor that Don Knotts was a drill instructor in SC. Also that he was one of the most feared? :shock:

Any, I am a big fan of Don Knotts. Anyone else?

Probably came from the same urban myth that Bob Keeshan (Captain Kangaroo) fought at Iwo Jima and that Mr. Rogers was a sniper in Vietnam with like a zillion kills to his credit. :roll:

I think we can file this in the same file as Mr Rogers being a Navy Seal in 'nam, etc and him wearing a sweater on his show to cover up all of his tattoos and Captain Kangaroo getting a Purple Heart on Iwo Jima (he was a Marine but too late for Iwo). I don't know who comes up with this stuff but it is hilarious.

I find the Urban Legends pretty funny and very strange. How they get so far and stay around for so long. I just don't understand how some folks can swear they directly knows someone that has... "fill in Urban Legend here".

Edit;
I'm not saying anything bad about you Nathan in that statement, its good to question what folks tell you and not except it as fact because so-n-so told you or you read it on the Internet. I'm just really surprised that some of the stories last for so long and go so far.

Speaking of Don Knotts, his movie debut was in "No Time For Seargents";

..which starred his soon to be co-star Andy Griffith. I highly recommend this movie, and yes there is a B-25 sequence!

Pilot "I see the airport!"
Co-Pilot (a young Jaime Farr) "Thats a drive-in movie!"
