Snowman Battle of the Bulge!!!

Tue Jan 30, 2007 2:30 pm

Ok, I know this is a bit weird, but on a snow day several years ago my brother and I decided to make a "Battle of the Bulge" scene in our front yard out of snow. Yes, we had a bit of time on our hands! :D

Go ahead you can laugh

Somebody send this to Bill Watterston - he'll kick himself for not thinking of it for "Calvin and Hobbes"!

Thats funny and very cool. When I was a kid, me and several of my cousins did a whole escape and evasion journey across town in the dead of winter at 10pm. About 2 feet of snow one the ground and we doned our army helmets and our bolt action springfields (the one wtih the gold woooden bullet fixed to the bolt. And made our way through backyards and crossing the streets in pairs while the others covered us. We had just watched Battle of the Bulge and new the Germans had occupied all the houses.

The fact that we made it across town and back in about three hours (scaring the crap out of our mothers) without getting caught is amazing. Now adays we probably would have been shot bu the cops.

That is so funny. My friends and I play paint ball, and my team all wnet out and got 101st AB patches for our camo. We take it kind of serious.

That's awesome, I love it! So many people out this way b***h about the snow that it's nice to see someone having fun in it. Nicely done! :)

Yep, same here... I believe we had just watched Battle of the Bulge for the first time as well... :D I guess that was our "inspiration" :D

See, that can't be the battle of the bulge. It's totally wrong.

1. There are no Genuine, authetic, cold war-era M-47 Patton tanks being used by the Nazi's.

2. The area is covered in snow. The REAL battle of the bulge took place in the desert.

3. None of those snowmen look like Telly Savalas or Robert Ryan.

Seriously, you need to brush up on your history. I suggest you watch more movies so you can learn what really happened. 8)

Cool pics...looks like you and your friend had a lot of time on your hands. I'm still trying to find the snowman that represents Telli Savalas (spelling?). Is it the one with the stick in it's mouth to replicate a cigar?

That's funny, when I was about 13 we did the same thing, except no snow. Problem is we got caught by a police officer just a block from the house...he didn't know what to think...we were dressed for full combat with army surplus stuff...had BB pistols and toy rifles. we were scared to death...but he let us walk home and told us to NEVER do that again...lest we get shot by some old may with a shot gun.

We did that a few years ago when they were still building the neighborhood. When ever a car would pass, we would just hide in the construction.
