Can anyone telling me the meaning of Condemned Crash. My uncle was killed on 9 Dec 1944 in B-17, 42-102925. Under that AC it says condemned crash. Thanks

This thread actually might do better if you post it in the Warbird Hangar forum.....
To me it sounds like your Uncle's B-17 might of crashed while departing or returning to the airfield. Or in the vacinity of the Airfeild
In the phrase "condemned crash" the word "crash" obiviously has only one meaning. But normally when they "condemned" an airframe that mean't that it was too badly damaged to be repaired and normally was broken up to salvage what useful parts could be used to keep the other B-17s flying. If it had crashed away from the airfeild then they wouldn't have been able to salvage it.
That's my guess. You might try and email Joe Baugher and ask him. I'm sure he has run across this phrase while building his registry. He's quite the authority
