If you look at the T-6G /Lt-6G parts catalog - AN 01-60FF A-4 page 42-43

-8 Clock - Aircraft type All (Spec. N0. AN-C99 or AN57431-1
Part # 1776 AN 05-35A6 (EG) manufactured by ELGIN
Part # 22809A AN 05-35A7 (WW) manufactured by WALTHAM

All three clocks shown above are WALTHAM 22809-A clocks but there are THREE variances in face plates for the same 22809-A part number.

What I should have clarified is whats the correct face plate of the three shown for a 1949 T-6G model?

So far my research points to the middle clock face listed above. I'm hopefully looking to acquire two matching clocks soon.

In North American's T-6 by Dan Hagedorn pg 143 the panel has clock that appears like your third image. The photo is small.

I was able to track down a ww2 Aircraft clock specialist. He had about 30 or so used clocks he could built to replace mine. According to the part numbers for the G model it could have been the first or second picture. The part numbers match exactly for either face just depends at what time the order was placed. The third picture is actually a later vintage and doesn't have radium on the face.

Recently had an FAA ASI look over a P-51 and he wanted a report of a survey of A/C records to show no radium was in any intruments.
Part of the conversation included this, and I quote-
"When you crash the last thing you want to deal with is a hazardous material cleanup."

Thats pretty interesting.... is there a mandate saying no radium face plates in aircraft ?

I don't know of anything specific (FAA wise) but the Gov types seem to jump on anything radioactive. This FAA guy wanted us to borrow a geiger counter to test the cockpit. You might want to discreetly do your own research.
Remember Jeff Pearson's ordeal.
I know the Gov loan A/C have had instruments removed and notices painted on A/C regarding this.
Radium emits Alpha particles which I'm told won't penetrate the skin. Danger is in ingesting material by breathing dust or transfer to mouth as in the workers sharpening brush tips by using their lips. Very inert I'm told otherwise, however, fly using them at your own risk.
