Wanted to say hello to the group. As of 08/13/12 I am a new owner of N7296C We flew from Los Angeles to Boston to bring our new bird home. We successfully flew coast to coast with just a few fuel stops in between. The plane flew great and didn't give any hiccups, except when the fuel burn was greater than anticipated, when we were on the left main tank (only 60min) should of had a few more left in the tank in cruise setting!, A quick turn back to the right tank, and she came right back to life. We left Boston, flew down the Hudson to NYC, circled the Statue of Liberty. Went by the St Louis Arch! It was a great cross country trip, and we are now excited to have our new bird home! I never flew on the left tank, remember that's a stand pipe in that tank, if you want everything out of the left only use reserve. |

Sorry - I wasn't totally clear in the first post: We flew Commercial from LA to Boston, where we picked up the plane on Monday morning. We left Lawrence Mass around 1130am for our Cross Country back to Fullerton California. We had a great time on the trip. We stopped at a CAF wing in St Louis to get some brake help as they were a bit spongy. We arrived home in California on Thursday afternoon. We stopped at Riverside (my home base ) where we were joined by a RV4 for a formation flight of two into Fullerton. Before we landed we headed over Los Alamitos to hit the Ocean so we could call it a true cross country flight. ![]() After hitting the beach, we turned back to Fullerton, where we did a nice 2g overhead break and a perfect landing to close our cross country trip. Daniel Wotring, and myself (Gary Stark) are the new owners of the plane. Daniel is the CFI who knows how to fly the beast, and he did great as we had several places with a nice cross wind, and he handled it perfectly. Myself - I just started my PPL with Daniel in January of 2011, received my PPL in Sept 2011. I purchased a C150 flew it for 4 months, and discovered that headwinds slowed me down coming back from Vegas, so in January I sold the C150 and purchased a C177B fixed gear. I also started my Instrument Rating. In June, I realized that I was almost finished with my IR, and decided I needed Complex and High Performance for my commercial rating, so I started looking at T6's. I then made plans to fly my C177 to Oshkosh. The week before Osh - I found N7296C - and started the prebuy. The week I left for OSH I took my IR checkride and passed! I love my new hobby of flying so much that from starting in Jan of 2011 till today I now have over 330hrs in my logbook. The trip home in the T6 was awesome. I have a lesson with Daniel on Monday to learn some basic maneuvers and next month we will be going to Ramona airport for a formation clinic. Daniel is also going to be using the plane for flight instruction, formation instruction and warbird rides in the so-cal area. The plane is going to be based out of Fullerton KFUL, and Chino CNO We are looking to have a great time with the plane. I have more pictures of the trip if interested. Gary Stark |

This was are longest leg on our trip so we wanted to play safe and know qty in our tansks. We took off on the right and flew for 30 min, switched to left ( so we could land on reserve), at 60 on left we were going to switch. We got distracted because we heard on the radio Fifi was landing below us, and 61 min since switching we ran out of fuel. We turned back to right, hit the wobble pump and she started right up. Went for another 30 and landed. We think the tach is off, since our burn was over 30 gph. Being a new plane we do ha e a list of sqauwks the previous owner did not address. Like the tach jumping 200-300 rpm and never settling down and the map gauges read I g differently front and back. Those and a few others and maybe adding a fuel flow gauge and she will be perfect for our uses Gary Stark |
