Question for the T-6 experts...

Thu Apr 26, 2012 11:20 pm

What is the part number for the micarta rubstrip that goes through this firewall to protect the ignition harness? It is on the upper right side. The one I got from Lance (probably for a Harvard 4) doesn't seem to have the correct hole pattern. The firewall section I have may be for a T-6 or an SNJ.

I suppose I could buy some micarta stock and make one, but it sure would be just easier to buy them. If someone has a spare, let's make a deal!

Something looks a bit different there.
I'll look at work later.

BDK, Sent you a couple emails with drawings. Looks like it might be Harvard or duster. They might have run the MP and primer lines through that baffle enlarging the hole.
I can't look up the T-6G drawing but looked at the 55-31006 and the 88-31006 and they both have a smaller cutout w/the smaller micarta.

Thanks Rich! The search continues. Looks like I'll be buying some micarta stock shortly unless someone has a hail Mary for me...

This part with the cutout difference may not be so oddball.
I looked at the parts for SNJ #22 and it matches your part-

Next to the cutout is some stamped info-

The E. I. seems to relate to a modification made, perhaps Engineering Incorporated or something.
There is another place a hole in the SS firewall was covered by a spot welded piece of metal. It also has an E.I. and a number stamped in it-

When they were done I don't know. A/C was sent to Corpus Christy for O/H in 44. There is a logbook entry back to 42 or 43 relating to removing the Mixture Indicator Instrument system. My guess would be CC in 44 although the 43 stamped might be when it was done or when the mod was engineered..

Any possibility I could get a tracing? Great find! Thanks Rich.
