T-6 wheels vs Bt-13 wheels

Thu Aug 28, 2014 12:48 am

Had an gentlemen who has a set of BT-13 wheels recently tell me he thinks they are the exact same wheels that came on a T-6.

I told him I didn't think so because the BT-13 wheels were make by Hayes and by T-6 wheels were made by BFG(or could have varied). I don't have a BT-13 parts manual to compare to my T-6G part numbers to. Can anyone shed any light on this? I just have never heard of them being interchangeable before in the past and I thought I would have picked that up somewhere by now if it were so?

Maybe I'm dead wrong ?

Parts are built to Specifications, Such as AN, NAS, NAA, ect.
In this case the wheels are built to a spec. Multiple companies made these wheels.
I'd check the Specification, not the manufacturer.

This WWII Air Corps Interchangeability list shows the Hayes 63-10 and 63-30 wheels are called out for both the BT-13 and the AT-6 series.
