or at least it looks Warbird. I found an 9-spoked magnesium wheel and tire
assembly last week and would like to ID it. The wheel is 18" in diameter
made by Bendix. Casting#-59217, Part#-59221, SubAssembly#-59224.
Bendix Products Div., 33 Smooth Contour Type 94

Tire is a 33" SC 10-ply Goodrich.

I ran it by an old B-36 mechanic while I was looking at some early 50's
Garret turbine airstart units and he said it was T-33. Though in looking
at photos it doesn't look T-33. Any ideas?

T33 doesn't have SC tires. Something load capacity wise in-between a P-51 and a B-25.

Thanks Brandon..of the types you mentioned they all have even numbered spokes..this 9-spoke thing is a bit of a headscratcher?

The Beech D-18 with the shoe brakes ran a 33SC tire as well as an AT-11. When they changed to disc brakes they ran a 12.50 by 16 in tire. I doubt it being a jet. My memories say that jets ran at least a 20ply tire and most likely 24 ply tires. The B-25 ran a 30SC on the nose. P-38 had a 36SC for the nose. The some taildragger fighters for the most part run 27 SC on the mains. The P-38 had 44's on the mains i think. Cosairs ran a 34x9 on the mains. I think the 34x9.9 radial tire(10 ply Kevlar) will fit for shop use
