I am putting up for sale my ultra-rare Carl Norden Mk XV M1 bombsight up for sale. In reality, this may be the oldest one and possibly the only in existence. From what I have read in Albert Pardinis book, this appears to be only the 26th Mk XV M1 bombsight delivered to the AAF in about 1934. The sight is unlike anything I have seen before and I have seen a lot of Norden bombsights. I was only able to find one picture of a Mk XV M1 on the internet. The serial number is not on a dataplate like later bombsights but its serial number is stamped on at least 2 different parts I have found so far. This bombsight is missing the rate end and the electrical connector which I hope to install very soon. The wrinkle paint was mostly gone when I got it, I carefully disassembled the sight and repainted the housing. The electrical terminal cover was missing but I fabricated one and installed it. I made it from brass sheet, cut, folded and soldered, not original, not perfect but looks appropriate. I dont believe the USAF museum or the Smithsonian has a sample of this early a Carl Norden designed bombsight. I fabricated a dust cover to bold on the the rate end to protect it and keep dirt out. As soon as I can figure out how to post pictures I will post some. I wish I was financially set so I could donate it to the Smithsonian or the USAF museum, but I am still working to pay bills. At this time, I would accept $4,600 for the sight, it aint cheap but its something you could own and be the only person on the planet to have one. I hope someone that is more financially secure than I can purchase it and donate it to either the USAF Museum or the Smithsonian, thats really where it belongs.
Here is a link to my Bombsight Facebook page, I will just put the pictures there for now.
