Tradewinds here in San Antonio, TX, has been sold to Bassler. They have hand picked all the parts they wanted, then sold the rest to scrappers...The scrappers have destroyed 4 DC3 fuselages, & a twin beech, I have been told the scrappers were paying pennys on the dollar on everything. There goes our history, one roll off box at a time, thousands of new old stock parts for warbirds... Sad day, if you talk to bassler or buy parts from them, remember, this is not the 1st time they have scrapped history in the name of a quick buck.... ![]() ![]() |

Looks like perhaps a Lodestar cockpit/nose section by the DC-3 at the eastern end of the property. |

I sure wish I could've gotten one of those DC-3 noses. I probably would've paid more for one than the scrappers. Ryan |

One of the DC-3 fuselage/wing centre-sections looks like it was a pre-war right hand door DC-3?, its a pity it wasnt available for an outcome other than scrapping. regards Mark Pilkington |

Would love to know where the "scrappers" took the stuff as I would probably give them more for it than "scrap" weight, unless there are liability issues which would be stupid for 70 year old parts. |

Who could possibly have any interest in a bunch of old airframe hulks that were nothing but a home for varmints? If anyone would have wanted them they would surely have been gone a long time ago. I don't have the time to mess around with a bunch of idiots rummaging around this junk, getting in the way of my business, I have a schedule to keep, just get it out now. I have seen this attitude too many times.....In fact, I can remember a certain Lodestar that went through this kind of thinking recently...and if I am not careful, I know a certain Harpoon that could fall prey to this attitude as well. |

Those airframes have been there since I can remember. No interest in them, until they are sold off.. then an outcry. Let these people make a buck! |
